Anthony ‘Happe’ Kotowicz

Hello! I’m Anthony ‘Happe’ Kotowicz — a Sydney-based character and mascot illustrator with a background in illustration, animation and graphic design.

A lifelong obsession with animation, comics, and artistic storytelling has helped me create characters since I could hold a pencil. I create 100% original, hand-drawn illustrations.

No AI used. Ever.

My style is inspired by classic 2D animation — clean lines, vibrant colours, exaggerated expressions — creating characters that feel alive. I work with brands, businesses, and individuals who want illustrations with genuine personality, love and warmth, rather than generic, off-the-shelf or ‘clip’ art.

By day, I use my hands to build campervans. By night, I use my hands to fight injustice as the mighty superher— er, um, I mean, I like to draw…

Drawing attention is my drawing’s intention.

Whether you need a logo or mascot that literally becomes the face of your brand, a custom gift that stops people in their tracks (eg. ‘Happe Memories’), or character artwork for a product, book, or campaign — I’d love to use my imagination to help bring your imagination to life.

  • It all started the first time I went out dancing…

One of my favourite hobbies (other than drawing) is dancing. I absolutely LOVE it. I do it as often as possible, and it puts a huge smile on my face.

At 14, the first time I went out dancing, my smile never subsided. I met so many weird, wonderful and genuinely cool people, and simply had the best time of my life. I had found my tribe. However, it turns out, no one really knew my name.

I later heard whispers that I was being referred to simply by what was on my t-shirt that night: the ‘Mr. Men’ character, ‘Mr Happy’.

Now, I’m all about cartoons and positivity, so I immediately and deeply embraced the positive character-based moniker.

Being a little different (in all the right ways, I like to think), I changed the name, ever so slightly, to also be a little different. I exchanged the ‘y’ for an ‘e’ and dropped the more formal title of ‘Mr’, to create the identity now known as ‘Happe’.

I’ve had this nickname most of my life, and I apply it to my many creative endeavours, most recently and wholeheartedly to ‘Happe Memories’.

I hope my name represents your experience with me, as well as what my creative work brings to you.

I may be ‘Happe’, but with my artwork, I hope to make you happy too.

Testimonials

  • Abigail L

I’ve known Anthony Kotowicz for many years, and I’ve always admired his creativity and the unique charm in his animations, but his piece for me really shows the heart and talent he brings to his work.

I asked him to create a special birthday gift for my niece, "Abril", and the result was beyond anything I imagined. The illustration he made captured not only her cuteness but also her deep love for animals and the joyful spirit that makes her so special.

Anthony brought all of that to life with his signature style and heartfelt detail. He even added a fun tattoo sticker she had in the photo, which made the gift feel even more personal.

Throughout the process, Anthony’s communication was fantastic; he was attentive, responsive, and genuinely invested in understanding exactly what I was looking for.

My niece was absolutely thrilled, it’s a piece she’ll treasure forever. I highly recommend Anthony’s work for anyone looking for something meaningful, made with true passion, talent, and care.

The BEST gift ever. Anthony is a fabulous ARTIST.

Anthony created the most thoughtful and original commissioned artwork for our dear friend’s son’s first birthday. He took the time to truly understand what we were hoping for and worked seamlessly within our budget, making the whole process feel collaborative and easy.

He gathered the most incredible details; little “Easter eggs” from their son’s first year, and wove them into a custom magazine cover that felt both personal and magical. By the end, there were dozens of heartfelt touches hidden throughout the artwork, each one capturing a moment of joy, laughter, and memory.

When the final piece was blown up and framed, it was absolutely spectacular. It became a gift that felt meaningful, unique, and completely unforgettable.

I couldn’t recommend Anthony highly enough. His creativity, care, and craftsmanship are truly exceptional.

From the very beginning, he showed a true passion for his craft, paying attention to every detail to ensure the artwork captured exactly what I was looking for.

His professionalism, creativity, and communication made the entire process seamless and enjoyable.

Not only did Anthony deliver stunning work that I’m proud to showcase, but his commitment to excellence was evident throughout.

I highly recommend him to anyone seeking high-quality artwork that is both thoughtful and unique.

Thanks again, Anthony – I’ll certainly be back for more in the future!

I commissioned Anthony to immortalise my beautiful greyhound, Rowdy, and I’m so glad I did - the artwork he produced is easily my favourite pic of the ‘Rowdster’.

Anthony took the time to explain his process, made sure I understood exactly what was involved.

He brought the perfect combo of humour and polish to the work and captured my little buddy to a T.

    10/10, would recommend. Thanks Anthony!!
